2019 NFL mock draft: Drew Lock heads to Broncos
By Brad Weiss
The Cincinnati Bengals will head into the 2019 NFL season with a new head coach for the first time in nearly two decades, as Marvin Lewis’ 16-year run as head coach came to an end after the 2018 season. While Lewis led the Bengals to a lot of regular season wins, he could never get over the hump in the playoffs, winning exactly zero games in the postseason.
Now, it will be up to a first-year head coach to get the job done, as the team signed Zac Taylor away from the Los Angeles Rams to man the sidelines. Taylor is cut from that Sean McVay cloth, and the hope is that he can bring the same kind of magic to Cincy than Taylor did to LaLa Land.
With a new head coach in place, the Bengals need to start addressing needs on this team, and they should target a defensive player in round one this April. One guy who should be an early pick in the first round is Devin Bush from Michigan, who can play any of the linebacker positions, and has the athleticism to play sideline to sideline.
During his time at Michigan, Bush proved to be a punishing tackler, and a guy who could come in and play right away at the NFL level. The Bengals need to start revamping this defense, and getting younger, and Bush is a guy who could be a leader on that side of the ball as early as year one.
