3. Io Shirai to the rescue

In women’s action on NXT this week we had Candice LeRae face off with Reina Gonzalez from the Mae Young Classic. We haven’t seen much of her on NXT TV as of late but it was good to see her here, as she and LeRae had a pretty good match.

The finish came when LeRae hit the Quebrada to pick up the victory. Unfortunately for her, the celebration was short-lived as the NXT Women’s Champion Shayna Baszler showed up with her stablemates Marina Shafir and Jessamyn Duke to lay a three-on-one beatdown on LeRae for no good reason other than them just being bullies.

Well if there’s one woman on the NXT roster that has more than enough of the champion’s bullying tactics, it’s Io Shirai, who rushes to the ring with a kendo stick to put a beating on the three women and save LeRae from potential injury.

Shirai sends the three women packing as she stands tall in the ring with LeRae to end the segment. If Shirai is lucky, she might have just found herself some backup when NXT TakeOver XXV rolls around in a week and a half’s time.
