Donte Moncrief, Pittsburgh Steelers

One of the more underrated signings this offseason is Steelers’ wideout Donte Moncrief. After a one year tenure with the Jaguars, he is now on his third NFL team in the past three years. Moncrief will now transition into the Steelers offense, who threw 153 more times than the Jaguars a season ago.

Heading into his sixth NFL season, Moncrief will be just 26 years old. With a 6’2”/220 lb frame, many are quick to overlook his speed. Moncrief ran a 4.40 40 yard dash at the combine back in 2014. This time was faster than the likes of both Odell Beckham Jr., and Sammy Watkins. Though 40 times are not all that significant, this does shine some light on his athleticism.

The departures of Antonio Brown, and Jesse James leaves 207 targets on the table in the Steelers’ offense. This leaves the door wide open for Moncrief to excel in a pass-friendly environment. While Juju Smith-Schuster is the clear number one option in Pittsburgh, Moncrief can work his way into being next in line. Moncrief is having a strong camp thus far, and has been praised by Steelers’ receivers coach, Daryl Drake. He will compete with second year receiver, James Washington, for targets. Washington did struggle last season with just a 42% catch rate on 38 targets.

Moncrief’s current ADP on FantasyData is 121.30 (WR48). This ADP puts him in the 11th round of 12-team leagues. He makes for a great value at wide receiver who is being overlooked in Fantasy Football drafts.
