NFL DFS – Running Backs

Jordan Scarlett/Elijah Holyfield CAR RB

You’ve probably already seen the quote by Ron Rivera concerning Jordan Scarlett and Elijah Holyfield, but just in case you haven’t, here you go.

"“We’ve really got to see Jordan Scarlett and Elijah Holyfield a lot. We want to see what those guys are made of and do they have the ability to help us.”"

I slightly prefer Scarlett due to the fact that he has played in one less preseason game than Holyfield due to injury. Rivera has stated that he’d like to see his first unit log 3-4 good series, but it’s unknown if he’ll keep McCaffrey on the field for that long. Both of these rookie running backs should see a good amount of volume for the remainder of the preseason, beginning Thursday night.

Rodney Anderson CIN RB

New Bengals coach Zac Taylor has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t intend on treating Week 3 like a traditional dress rehearsal game. It will be a surprise if he keeps his starters on the field for the duration of the first half, and once Joe Mixon and Gio Bernard sub out for good, they don’t have a lot of options in the backfield.

Anderson does come with some risk, as this will be his first game back after tearing his ACL in college, but the talent is there. Before his injury at OU, he was considered one of the better running back prospects in the country. He’s someone I’m keeping my eye on to see whether any news breaks concerning his expected playing time. High risk, high reward.
