2. Strong gets the attention of the Dream

NXT North American Champion The Velveteen Dream was at Full Sail Live this week to face Kona Reeves. But this wasn’t the real story. The match was a good back and forth affair, but no one expected for a second that Reeves had a chance to defeat the Dream.

The finish came with the Dream Valley Driver on Reeves for the three count. He didn’t even need to use the Purple Rainmaker to pick up the win. That should tell you all need you to know about the long term future of the self-proclaimed “Finest” of NXT.

After the match ended is when business truly picked up. Roderick Strong showed up on the ‘Tron and cut a promo on The Dream. He told the champ that the spotlight was on him now and questioned if the champ could handle a one-on-one experience with him. They panned out to show that Strong had set Dream’s couch on fire. He asked if he had his attention now to end the promo.

Dream was clearly upset in the ring afterward and it seems that Strong has finally gotten under the skin of the North American Champion. Shortly after NXT went off the air, it was officially announced that Dream will defend his championship against Strong on September 18 as NXT makes it two-hour debut on the USA Network. That should be an amazing main event.
