New York Giants. Andrew Thomas. 5. player. 31. . Offensive Tackle

The New York Giants land at No. 5 overall in this mock draft after trading down with the Miami Dolphins. Not only do the Giants get the player they need anyway, in grabbing Georgia left tackle Andrew Thomas, but they also receive a late first round draft pick from Miami, where they can target another area of need.

Thomas going to the Giants is a no-brainer, as they need serious help along the offensive line, and Thomas was downright dominant during his time with the Georgia Bulldogs. This is a Giants team that has one of the best young running backs in football, a solid young quarterback, and young defensive players who got better the second half of the season.

Bringing in Thomas would enable the Giants to move Nate Solder to the right side of the line, where he should be able to get better matchups. Protecting quarterback Daniel Jones has to be the priority moving forward, and Thomas is a great step in the right direction for a organization who will also have a rookie head coach in Joe Judge in 2020.

. Quarterback. Los Angeles Chargers. Justin Herbert. 6. player. 13

The Los Angeles Chargers went into the 2019 season as a favorite to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl, or at least make a deep run through the playoffs. Unfortunately, they got terrible play from quarterback Philip Rivers, who once again threw for a ton of yards, but made costly mistake after costly mistake.

Of course, it was not all Rivers’ fault, as they had to battle through a ton of injuries, and had their star running back sit out the first few weeks of the season. However, with Rivers entering free agency, it is time for the team to make a move to the next era of Chargers football, and that means bringing in Oregon’s Justin Herbert.

One could argue that Herbert will be the most NFL-ready quarterback entering this draft, as he could have been a first rounder last year, and was a four-year starter. Dan Fouts was the best quarterback to play for this franchise, and is from Oregon is well, so adding Herbert could bring everything full circle.
