LT Jonathan Ogden (1996-2007)

The Baltimore Ravens set the tone for their new era with their first two draft picks, including their fourth overall choice. Left tackle Jonathan Ogden immediately solidified the Ravens’ offensive line and became the modern-day standard for excellence at his position.

People forget that there was actually a disagreement in the Ravens’ draft room about whether or not to take Ogden. Owner Art Modell wanted to draft Lawrence Phillips but GM Ozzie Newsome preferred Ogden, making a call that would have undoubtedly altered the history of the franchise.

Throughout the course of his career, Ogden was an elite left tackle, making the Pro Bowl 11 times and All-Pro teams a combined nine times (five First Team, four Second Team). Ogden was also the starter at left tackle for Baltimore’s 2000 team which won the Super Bowl in a blowout over the New York Giants.

The Ravens got a dozen excellent years out of Ogden, who was dominant from the day he arrived until his retirement after the 2007 season. Ogden was a first-ballot Hall-of-Famer in 2013 and easily earned his spot on Baltimore’s Mount Rushmore as a career Raven.
