4. Marcell Dareus

A huge blow to the Vikings this offseason was when they had to cut ties with Joseph. The Vikings have brought in defensive tackle Michael Pierce, who spent four seasons playing for the Baltimore Ravens. However, they should pair Pierce with another veteran. That should be Marcell Dareus.

The former Alabama Crimson Tide standout has had past stints with the Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguars. With Dareus coming off a season-ending core muscle injury, Dareus will be looking to prove himself. A nose tackle with a chip on his shoulder is an attitude the Vikings could use.

Dareus is player who can stop the run and as a role player in Minnesota, he could be quite effective. Head coach Mike Zimmer could definitely revive Dareus’s career and find a solid role for him in this defense.

In terms of team success, Dareus going from Jacksonville to Minnesota seems to be a favorable scenario for the 30-year-old. A situation where general manager Rick Spielman can use to his advantage to convince Dareus to sign at a discount.
