Fantasy Golf: 2020 Charles Schwab Challenge Picks

Justin Thomas 10,600

Thomas ranks third in my model, ranking in the top spot in BOB and TTG gained. He also ranks 4th in the field in par 4 scoring. Thomas has yet to tee it up at Colonial, but I am confident that he will be ready come this weekend. Thomas is a premier ball striker, and should be ahead of the curve, as we saw him hitting the links with other professional golfers throughout the break.

Webb Simpson 9,800

Webb Ranks first in my model. He is top 10 in par 4 scoring, birdies or better gained, windy conditions, and strokes game TTG at colonial.  He also ranks 11th in the field in strokes gained putting on bent grass. Webb routinely takes time off between starts, so he should be extremely comfortable off of this extended layoff. His recent form is incredible, as he has 8 top 10 finishes in his last 14 events.  Although Webb did not play colonial in 2019, he finished T3 in 2016 and fifth in 2017, with a MC in 2018.

Tony Finau 8,700

Finau is known as a big hitter on the PGA Tour. However I am a huge proponent of playing Tony Finau at difficult courses and at short courses. He is very good with his wedges, so his short game and close proximity play fuels his advantage. The stats back this up. Finau ranks top 20 in TTG and Par 4 Scoring on difficult courses. He will look to improve upon his recent results at Colonial. Finau finished 2nd in 2019 and has 5 consecutive made cuts at Colonial without a finish worse than 34th.
