Overrated college football team from the Big Ten: Wisconsin Badgers

The Wisconsin Badgers are another team that’s going to change their offense in a major way but for a completely different reason. For years, everything went through Jonathan Taylor. He had more than 300 attempts in each of the last two seasons and 299 in the season before. He was the man the Badgers relied upon in big moments and small. Now, they have to rely on someone else.

What really hurts Wisconsin is the schedule they have to face this season. They have Michigan, Iowa, and an intriguing Purdue team on the road. On top of that, they have to face Notre Dame in the middle of the season. Appalachian State is not the easy win it might feel like going into the season. They avoid Ohio State, but that doesn’t mean they should be +450 to win the division. Their odds are twice as good as upstart programs like Minnesota, Iowa, and Michigan State (who’s a ridiculous 150/1).

We like Paul Chryst as head coach and trust him with this team, but there’s just a lot to overcome. This is especially true in a division that has a monster Buckeyes team, a desperate Wolverines team, and some teams that we’re expecting to surprise us like Iowa or Michigan State.

Jack Coan is key here. The Badgers quarterback had a decent junior season with 18 touchdowns and just 5 interceptions. He looks to take another step, and that’s the one thing that could get in the way of this prediction.
