Overrated college football team from the Big 12: Texas Longhorns

This one seems obvious because Texas is always overrated. Here’s what makes this different, however. The Texas Longhorns are our pick to win the Big 12. Yup, we have them winning the division, but the odds are still too long for us to take that chance. Oddsmakers made the Longhorns 3/1 to win the Big 12 this season. There are too many things that have to go their way for it to happen. While we think it will happen, those odds are too great for even us to put actually money on it.

Obviously, the leader of the Longhorns is Sam Ehlinger. He was predicted to be a Heisman candidate last season by some, but the Longhorns were one of the biggest disappointments in the country last season. They were the biggest competition for eventual National Champion LSU Tigers, but things just fell apart from there.

Texas’ schedule is interesting. They have to play LSU on the road in their non-conference schedule. Their hardest road game besides that is Oklahoma State, which comes in the last week of the season. They get Oklahoma at home, which is obviously their biggest game of the season. They avoid going to Morgantown when they play an interesting WVU team. Baylor is a home game, which even without Matt Rhule we see them still having a decent season.

We like Texas, but not at +300 to win the conference. Oklahoma lost Jalen Hurts, but they still have the most talented team in the conference by far. Texas has to get lucky to win it. We don’t want to put our actual money on the line when it comes to hoping for scheduling luck.
