Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Lafayette Christian Academy (Lafayette, LA). player. S. Sage Ryan. 4. 817

LSU has a terrific shot of landing the best safety in the country, not just because the Tigers are the reigning national champions, but Sage Ryan is in-state from Lafayette, Louisiana. The four-star safety is the No. 2 player from Louisiana, as well as the No. 40 overall player in the class of 2021 in the eyes of the 247Sports Composite.

Ryan has 18 formal offers, but he’s primarily interested in playing for one of these three teams: LSU, the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Florida State Seminoles. His primary recruiter to LSU is secondary coach Corey Raymond, who famously landed superstar sophomore cornerback Derek Stingley Jr. He is being backed up by new defensive coordinator Bo Pelini as a secondary recruiter.

Alabama is throwing its defensive coordinator Pete Golding as its primary recruiter for Ryan, while Florida State is going with running backs coach/recruiting coordinator David Johnson as its primary. Given that Ryan is in-state and is being recruited by the guy who brought Stingley to Baton Rouge, you have to love LSU’s chances of landing him in this cycle.

At this time, we can’t rule out Alabama and Florida State entirely, but we have to believe the Bayou Bengals are Ryan’s No. 1 one choice with a bullet. Who wouldn’t want to stay in the same part of the country with the chance of becoming the next star safety for DBU? It would be shocking at this point to see Ryan play anywhere else. He feels like an LSU player already.
