It was a very bad week for these quarterbacks, who gave performances worthy of a spot on the bench.

Week 5 of the 2020 NFL season has seen the likes of Patrick Mahomes and other elite quarterbacks continue to dazzle with their arm and their legs. Unfortunately, not all of the teams in the league have that luxury.

While we have seen some of the best in the league once again live up to that status, some of the underperforming teams in the league have once again seen some stinkers out of their quarterback.

As all three of these teams start to get desperate, their respective franchises might need to consider putting them on the bench.

Joe Flacco. 30. Pick Analysis. QB. New York Jets. 3. player. Scouting Report

Flacco is normally a backup that was thrust into action after a Sam Darnold injury, and he spent most of his first Jets start showing off why that was the case. Flacco had his moments against the Arizona Cardinals, but Jets fans saw most of the same mistakes that Flacco showed off during the end of his tenure with the Baltimore Ravens and in his one-year cameo with the Denver Broncos. Playing Flacco is a zero-sum game, meaning that the best option under center the Jets could be starting rookie QB James Morgan.

Morgan, who was a Shrine Bowl star after a solid final season at FIU, was picked in the fourth round of the 2020 NFL Draft. While Flacco has a Super Bowl and almost 40,000 yards to his name, Morgan is a complete unknown at this point. While he could fall on his face, there is only one way to find out how good he is. The Jets are going nowhere this year, so they should use whatever games Darnold is unable to play in as practice runs to see if Morgan is worth keeping around as a high-end backup, a hidden gem who plays well, or another wasted pick.
