Daniel Jones is getting one of his best weapons back before he plays the Eagles.

Joe Judge and the New York Giants were bailing water after an 0-5 start, but the ship has momentarily been righted after a close one-point win against the Washington Football Team. However, Carson Wentz and the Philadelphia Eagles might prove to be a more difficult challenge. Knowing that Daniel Jones needs some receivers back after struggling behind a poor offensive line with minimal perimeter talent, the Giants activated arguably their best wide receiver from IR.

Sterling Shepard, who became one of Jones’ favorite targets as a rookie, has been out since a Week 2 loss against the Chicago Bears. Ahead of a Thursday Night matchup against Philadelphia, the Giants have activated Shepard off of IR, meaning Jones will get one of his more reliable underneath targets back for a divisional clash.

Daniel Jones needs all the help he can get against the Eagles

Jones’ regression from his rookie year has been startling. He is still turning the ball over, as he has six interceptions and three fumbles lost, but he isn’t as productive with his arm or his legs. While he recorded 26 touchdowns in 12 starts last year, he has just three through six starts under new OC Jason Garrett.

The Eagles aren’t exactly the picture of a well-oiled machine right now at 1-4-1, but they do have the talent advantage on both sides of the ball and an upgrade at quarterback, putting the 1-5 Giants at a disadvantage. At least Jones can lean on perimeter talent outside of Darius Slayton for a full game for just the second time this season.

If the Giants are to pull off this upset, Jones and his receivers need to exploit a suspect Eagles secondary, and Shepard, who has eight catches for 76 yards this season, doing damage on quick hitters should be a big part of Jason Garrett’s offensive
