Jacksonville Jaguars running back Ryquell Armstead will not play in 2020 due to COVID-19.

The COVID-19 virus has hit several NFL teams hard, but the Jacksonville Jaguars have seen some of their best players and more promising youngsters come down with the virus, running back Ryquell Armstead among them.

Armstead personally might be the player who has struggled with this virus more than any other, as the infection has sidelined him for the entire season.

Armstead, who was placed on the COVID-19 list before the season began, will not play in 2020 due to struggles with the virus. Armstead has already been hospitalized twice due to the virus, showing that this can cause some serious havoc to a player as young and healthy as Armstead.

Ryquell Armstead had some nice games as a rookie with Jacksonville

The Jaguars picked the former Temple star in the fifth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, as they were intrigued by his blend of speed and powerful running. Armstead ran for 108 yards while totaling 144 yards as a receiver, scoring twice during his rookie season. While he could’ve assumed a greater role after the sudden release of Leonard Fournette, his health has prevented him from getting on the field.

If Armstead was going to return this season, it likely would’ve been to a rotational role, as James Robinson emphatically took over the starting role while Chris Thompson serves as the pass-catching back alongside Gardner Minshew.

Armstead could’ve been a featured back for the Jaguars in 2020, but the COVID-19 virus has put everything in serious jeopardy.
