Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew claims the coronavirus ran away from him in a hilarious interview.

Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Gardner Minshew continues to steal American hearts. The second-year quarterback stole the show during his rookie campaign with the Jags, and now looks to take things to new heights in his first season as the team’s starting quarterback.

When it comes to his magic off the field, Minshew’s persona delivers time and time again. Take early on this week for example. Minshew was placed on the NFL’s Reserve/COVID-19 list, but was already removed from it 24 hours later.

When Minshew was asked about what happened, he delivered a quote that’s sure to go viral on Twitter.

Gardner Minshew is entering his first full season as the Jaguars’ starting quarterback

“I did not contract the virus, it took one look at me and ran the other way,” Minshew joked. “Probably in its best interests.”

Folks, how could anyone not love this young man? Minshew’s fame began to rise during his final year in the college ranks. He was a grad transfer at Washington State from East Carolina and helped Mike Leach and the Cougars win a program-best 11 games in 2018. That season included a win over Oregon for ESPN’s College GameDay and a victory over Iowa State in the Alamo Bowl.

The Jags then used a sixth-round pick on Minshew in the 2019 NFL Draft. When Nick Foles suffered a broken collarbone in the first game of the season, it opened the door for the ‘Mississippi Mustache’ to get some serious playing time in. Minshew didn’t disappoint, throwing for 3,271 yards and 21 touchdowns in 14 games.

Minshew Mania will be alive and well in Jacksonville this season. While there were plenty of concerns he had come in contact with the coronavirus, Minshew is doing just fine and is looking forward to leading the Jacksonville offense.
