College football DFS running back picks October 31:

Top Tier:

Najee Harris could break the slate again. Mississippi State’s pass defense has been worse, but Alabama is so much better than the Mississippi State front that they wont stop running. Harris is absolutely worth the price here, but it’s hard to pair him with two elite quarterbacks. We have to choose between Harris and another elite quarterback. Can he outscore them? That’s a tougher question.

Running back gets a little tougher after that, especially since Virginia’s defense has tightened up against the run some. Javonte Williams is now priced at the point that we really have to think about using him. He’s more than Rattler, which seems a bit absurd. Michael Carter is still a solid option, and now he’s $1,700 cheaper than Williams.

If Sa’Rodorick Thompson plays, he was superb against Oklahoma last year. He’s definitely worth using so long as he has no limitations.

Middle Tier:

This is about as good of a matchup as T.J. Pledger will get and I still don’t know if I want to use him. Oklahoma is going to throw more than run, so Pledger’s ceiling is awfully low. He doesn’t have the game breaking speed needed to put up the monster lines that we saw from Kennedy Brooks last year.

Shockingly, the Florida run defense hasn’t been nearly as good as they usually are. Considering what Larry Rountree did against a stout Kentucky run D last week, Rountree looks very nice in this price range.

Bargain Shoppers:

Navy moved a little away from the wishbone last week to try and keep up with Navy. I expect them to do the same with SMU. Nelson Smith is the only safe running back this week and Morris still outrushed him last week. Still, this is a plus matchup and Smith is very cheap.

Wayne Taulapapa is cheap enough to consider here against North Carolina. He’s still the lead back for the Hoos and this is the easiest matchup they’ve had for a while.

Austin Stogner showed why he’s risky last week. TCU held him in check. Trey Sermon is an interesting pick in the bottom tier as well. Neither he nor Major Teague ran well last week and this is a tougher matchup. I do think the Ohio State team will mesh better as the season goes on, but the price on Sermon is so low that he’s at least worth considering.
