1. New York Mets

The Mets are the one true obvious choice on this list. Steve Cohen is the new owner and has already cleaned house in the front office. Sandy Alderson is back as Team President and should be on the phone with Epstein as soon as possible.

Cohen has made it clear he wants to spend big and build a winner. Doing what it takes to acquire Epstein would prove he is serious about his message.

The Mets went to the World Series in 2015 and it looked like there would be some long-term success. The team now has four straight seasons without a playoff berth and the latest drama was the Wilpon family going back and forth with Cohen until his purchase was finally approved.

There is plenty of legitimate talent all over this roster. But that is not what would bring Epstein to town. He would be getting a chance to head to another big city and prove he can turn around even the most dysfunctional franchise. This is also the one job where Cohen may have to overpay in order to convince Epstein to not take a year off.

Right now excitement is high surrounding the Mets because of the change in ownership. Shelling out for Epstein would be something Cohen can absolutely do. The only question is if the star executive wants to take on such a task so soon.
