New Orleans Saints D/ST

While most of the attention from the Saints’ 24-9 win over the Atlanta Falcons was focused on the performance of Taysom Hill in his first start at quarterback in place of the injured Drew Brees, the reality is theirs was a win built on the foundation of another excellent defensive performance.

Dennis Allen’s unit has rounded into form in recent weeks and has become one of the most consistently productive fantasy defenses.

In addition to allowing just nine points, the Saints also intercepted Matt Ryan twice and sacked him eight times. New Orleans’ efforts on defense earned 16 points, a total good enough for fourth among all defenses.

It marked the third successive week that the Saints defense has put up double-digit fantasy points, having done so in the rout of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and in their win over the San Francisco 49ers.

The Saints have forced 10 turnovers in their last four games and, with another game against Ryan and the Falcons in Week 13 sandwiched by meetings with the Denver Broncos and Philadelphia Eagles, they should have plenty of opportunities to add to that tally in what are pivotal weeks in the fantasy season.

Having the right defense in your lineup can be the decisive factor in tight fantasy matchups. The New Orleans defense has made a habit of delivering decisive performances and few units in the NFL are worthy of the same level of trust from fantasy managers.
