DK Metcalf went ahead and made things much worse for the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night after the Seattle victory.

Monday’s contest against the Philadelphia Eagles turned out to be a brilliant one for Seattle Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf. The second-year wideout caught 10 balls for 177 yards, marking his new career-high.

To make things even better for Metcalf, his Seahawks took down the Eagles 23-17 in Week 12, improving their season record to 8-3. Defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz has to be kicking himself right now. Not only did his unit allow Metcalf to go off, but apparently Schwartz’s pre-game conversation with Metcalf led to the standout wideout’s monster night.

DK Metcalf was motivated by Jim Schwartz to have a huge game against the Eagles

Metcalf didn’t hold back, making it clear he was motivated by what Schwartz had to say. In the defensive coordinator’s defense, that sounds like a compliment he played him and not an insult. Calvin Johnson will go down as one of the most dominant receivers to ever suit up. Schwartz was merely saying Metcalf has a way to go to catch him, but he’s still a tremendous wideout, right?

Regardless, Metcalf didn’t see things that way and decided to remind Schwartz that while he may not be Johnson, he’s still a lethal receiver in the game and has been nothing short of a monster this season. Following his big game on Monday night, Metcalf now leads the NFL with his 1,039 receiving yards. He’s added 58 receptions and nine touchdowns, solidifying himself as Russell Wilson’s favorite target.

In only his sophomore NFL campaign, Metcalf is only scratching the surface on just how great he can be. If he continues at this pace, he could end up breaking several Seahawks wide receiver records. Not bad for a former No. 64 overall pick, who saw eight receivers get picked in front of him.
