Keyontae Johnson gives us a positive update on his recovery (Video)
By John Buhler
We have even more good news on the Keyontae Johnson front from the man himself!
Keyontae Johnson was able to send out a video message to tell us how he is doing on Friday.
Johnson collapsed on the hardwood in the Florida Gators’ in-state rivalry game vs. the Florida State Seminoles. Mike Wright‘s team voted to keep playing on Saturday morning after Johnson was transported to the hospital in critical, but stable condition. After a few updates, Johnson was able to speak on video to his fans and to everyone who was concerned about his well-being.
Florida will not play again until SEC play commences in two weeks
This was a traumatic event for all involved with the Florida men’s hoops team. The Gators elected to not play any more non-conference games in the aftermath of Johnson’s hospitalization. Their next game will be at the Vanderbilt Commodores on Wednesday, Dec. 30 at Memorial Gymnasium in Nashville, Tennessee, 18 days after Johnson’s unfortunate incident vs. Florida State.
Johnson’s parents gave us a positive update earlier in the week, saying he was responsive and able to communicate with his Florida teammates by way of FaceTime. Not even a week after Johnson had to be rushed to the hospital, he was able to send out this kind message, giving thanks to the medical staff and all of Gator Nation for their continued support in his recovery.
This was a positive update we can all take into the weekend with us with great optimism.
