Frank Sanchez sends Julian Fernandez through the ropes in round 7 TKO (video)
Heavyweight boxer Frank Sanchez ended his fight with Julian Fernandez dramatically with a TKO that sent Fernandez out of the ring.
On the undercard of the Canelo Alvarez vs. Callum Smith main event, heavyweight boxer Frank Sanchez scored a scary technical knockout over Julian Fernandez.
In front of a limited crowd at the Alamodome in San Antonio, TX, Sanchez scored an eyecatching TKO that could have ended in disaster.
Sanchez (17-0, 13 KOs), 28, from Las Vegas by way of Cuba, connected with a straight right in round 7 that hurt Fernandez and followed it with another that put Fernandez out on his feet.
After the second right hand, Fernandez (14-3, 11 KOs) fell through the ropes and took an ugly fall. Fortunately, there was a platform outside of the ring that prevented Fernandez from crashing all the way down to the floor below.

With his knockout of Julian Fernandez, Frank Sanchez notched his 13th career knockout
This was Sanchez’s second knockout win in a row. Before the technical knockout, Sanchez was thoroughly out-boxing Fernandez, but Fernandez was taking his punches well.
At one point in the fight, Fernandez dropped his hands and encouraged Sanchez to hit him. It was an impressive show of bravado, but Sanchez finally caught Fernandez with a knockout punch.
Sanchez is currently rated as the 32nd best heavyweight in the world by Boxrec.com, but his win over Fernandez should give him a boost in the rankings.
