DC. Los Angeles Rams. 2. 51. Scouting Report. player. Pick Analysis. Brandon Staley

As much as Staley seems like a one-year wonder, as his first season as Rams defensive coordinator has produced a defense so dominant that they have LA in the playoff picture despite Jared Goff’s regression, Staley has earned his stripes as outside linebackers coach under Vic Fangio in both Chicago and Denver, tutoring the likes of Khalil Mack and Von Miller. In need of someone who can come in, snap his fingers, and turn the defense into something worth watching, who better than someone who took over for a legendary coordinator in Wade Phillips and managed to improve his defense?

If Staley decides to get rid of Koetter and bring in his own offensive mind, it will likely be someone from the Sean McVay coaching tree, and that offensive philosophy has proven to be successful around the league. With a McVay-esque offense ready to step in and dominate and Staley’s defensive mind ready to completely change the shape and philosophy of this unit, he could be the secret ingredient this Falcons team needs to both change around their immediate prospects and give them some stability for the next decade.
