5 Chargers head coaching replacements for Anthony Lynn
How sought after is Eric Bieniemy? He’s spending his playoff bye week interviewing for three different jobs already. Could the Chargers entice him into making it a fourth?
There’s no denying that Bieniemy is talented when it comes to calling the plays, but let’s look at the pieces in place. Patrick Mahomes is an MVP, Tyreek Hill is a 1,000-yard receiver, as is Travis Kelce. Smaller pieces, like Sammy Watkins, Mecole Hardman and Clyde Edwards-Helaire have only bolstered the Chiefs’ offense.
Guess what? Los Angeles has pretty similar weapons.
Keenan Allen might be the top slot target in the NFL and is still undervalued. Mike Williams a perfect No. 2 option. If the team can extend Hunter Henry, there’s another weapon for Herbert in the passing game. Plus, the rookie made names like Jalen Guyton and Tyron Johnson seem like quality No. 3 targets.
Add in a high-end selection and a future star gunslinger, what more could you want?
Bieniemy will have his offers but unless he doesn’t want to coach against Andy Reid, this might be the best fit. If he wants to prove he can win now, Los Angeles has the pieces to make a run in 2021.
