WR. JuJu Smith-Schuster. 1. player. 55. Scouting Report. Pick Analysis. Pittsburgh Steelers

The Steelers are known for drafting value at the wide receiver role. They struck gold in 2017 when they landed JuJu Smith-Schuster out of USC. So far, he’s been a quality No. 2 weapon for the Steelers and a highlight reel on the field.

The thing is, he’s had two years to prove that he could be a No.1 option in the league. So far, he’s better suited to playing the sidekick instead of the leading man.

Over the past two years, Smith-Schuster has finished second on the team in receiving yards. He hasn’t finished with more than 100 catches since 2018 and only has scored 12 times. Even with Mason Rudolph playing for most of 2019, fellow mid-round pick Diontae Johnson has led the team in receiving yards and scored the same amount of touchdowns.

The Steelers also have Chase Claypool and James Washington under contract for at least another season.

Smith-Schuster could return and accept average money or test his luck in the market. The Steelers will miss the player, but they likely won’t miss the antics. Kevin Colbert keeps drafting studs and the position and lets the older players walk.

Wash, rinse, repeat in Pittsburgh.
