Tyrann Mathieu shouts out Drew Brees after potential final game
As a native Louisianan, Kansas City Chiefs Tyrann Mathieu shouts out one of the best.
Walking off the field one final time, Drew Brees looked back at the Superdome turf. He didn’t have to say it, fans already knew it.
Brees’ time in the NFL has likely reached its end. Now comes the hard goodbye.
The New Orleans Saints were eliminated from the postseason against NFC South rival Tampa Bay on Sunday night. Tom Brady once again will return to the conference championship for a chance at a seventh ring. Brees, who turned 42 earlier this month, will ponder if another season is still in the cards when the time comes.
Fans and players around the NFL already are paying tribute to the legacy of Brees in the bayou. However, Kansas City Chiefs Tyrann Mathieu took a personal approach in thanking the all-time leader in passing yards for what he’s meant to the state of Louisiana.

Born and raised in the heartland of cajun culture, Mathieu watched his state be ravished by the effects of Hurricane Katrina in 2005, just before Brees arrived in the swamp. Since then, he’s been a leader on and off the field for the state.
For that, Mathieu’s words speak for most of the fans found around the area.
Drew Brees will walk away a winner
It was reported by FOX’s Jay Glazer that Sunday would be the final game in Superdome for Brees. Although some would love to see him return, the 30-20 loss does fall on his shoulders. Sean Murphy-Bunting started the game off strong with a pick-six, ruining Brees’ concentration.
Three more turnovers — including more two interceptions — sends New Orleans back to the drawing board for 2021. Unfortunately, cap space concerns will now have the team entering a small rebuild for the impending future.

Mathieu now will hope to bring the Chiefs another title when facing the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. However, his heart will always belong in the place he calls home. For years, the Saints were better known as the Aints for their horrendous style of play.
In one season, Brees changed the narrative. It’s a moment the NFL and the city of New Orleans will never forget.
