Eric Bieniemy still isn’t a head coach and Patrick Mahomes is wondering why.

With another win on Sunday night, the Kansas City Chiefs are back in the Super Bowl. A 38-24 victory over the Buffalo Bills marks their second straight trip to the big game.

Now, Patrick Mahomes and his MVP-caliber arm will be going head-to-head with the G.O.A.T. in Tom Brady. The two have battled it out four times before, each taking two apiece. This could be a winner-take-all showdown in which the opponent owns bragging rights for all-time.

The real storyline of the Chiefs has been their offense. Eric Bieniemy might not call the plays, but the Kansas City offensive coordinator has done his part to prove he’s worth becoming a head coach. Since taking over for Matt Nagy, Kansas City has been to three conference
championships and never had to play on the road in the postseason.

That alone should be worth a second interview. Mahomes certainly would agree. Despite perhaps losing his OC to a different team, the 2018 MVP is outright supporting Bieniemy for a chance to become a head coach.

On Monday, he retweeted a tweet asking the age of question of when will it be Bieniemy’s turn.

Will Bieniemy have a shot in 2021 to become a head coach?

Bieniemy will be heading to Tampa Bay for Super Bowl LV instead of gearing up for another interview. The Houston Texans remain the final team without a head coach entering the 2020 NFL offseason.

The Texans requested a second interview with Bills defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier and Baltimore Ravens assistant coach David Culley for a second interview. Houston met with former Detroit Lions head coach Jim Caldwell for a second time earlier this month as well.

Mahomes has been vocal for Bieniemy to earn a job as the leader of his own team. Coordinators might not call all the plays, but they play a massive role in developing talent. Looking at the Chiefs’ overall offensive production, that’s more than enough to boost his status
.
If Bieniemy isn’t the guy for Houston this offseason, it might be their loss for the long haul. No matter what though, it’s Kansas City’s gain for keeping the dynasty alive for longer.

Next. Josh Allen is still a good quarterback, even after AFC Championship Game loss. dark
