Packers free agency rumors, Troy Hill

4. Troy Hill

Hill is another veteran cornerback who should draw interest from a number of teams in free agency. He thrived playing opposite Jalen Ramsey last year for the Rams. The Packers would be wise to investigate signing him to be their No. 2 corner in 2021.

The 30-year-old’s lack of size and strength makes him an awkward fit to play against the most physically imposing wideouts in the league. Instead, Green Bay would need to be careful about his matchups on a weekly basis.

The upside to Hill is that he still has the speed and quickness to handle almost any finesse receiver in the NFL. That makes him a solid potential partner for Jaire Alexander in the Packers’ secondary.

Green Bay can afford to give Hill a multi-year deal without too much concern. He’s going to experience some age-related regression in the near future, but there’s no reason to think he’s going to experience a steep decline over the next two seasons. Signing him to a two-year deal with a modest annual value would represent good business for the Packers.
