4. Los Angeles Chargers

Based purely on having the cap space to take on his $15.3 million for this year as is, the Chargers have gotten some traction as a suitor for Jones. They don’t have a need at wide receiver though, with Keenan Allen and Mike Williams as their top two and interesting depth behind them (Josh Palmer, Jalen Guyton, Tyron Johnson, KJ Hill, Joe Reed). So it’s not too surprising the Chargers as a landing spot for Jones has been somewhat rooted in fantasy football dreaming.

But let’s imagine Justin Herbert throwing to Allen and Jones, two of the 10 best wide receivers in the NFL. Williams then becomes a dangerous No. 3 for three-wide sets as a primary formation for new offensive coordinator Joe Lombardi, with Austin Ekeler out of the backfield and Jared Cook stepping in at tight end. Fronted by an improved offensive line, after the additions of Corey Lindsley and Rashawn Slater, that’s a top-five offense in the league with everyone healthy.

The question from the Chargers’ end would be compensation being sent back to the Falcons in a trade for Jones. Would a second-round pick and a player (one of the aforementioned wide receivers, like Tyron Johnson?) get it done?
