Linebacker Jamir Jones

Jamir Jones came out of Notre Dame in 2020 but went undrafted and failed to make the Texans roster last year. He’s getting another chance this year to make his pro dreams come true and he’s making the absolute most of it.

Jones may have been better known as the brother of now-released offensive lineman Jarron Jones, but he’s made a name for himself with some impressive preseason outings. His most recent game against the Lions proves he deserves a roster spot.

Pro Football Focus graded Jones among Pittsburgh’s best defensive players on Saturday. He had four tackles, a half-sack and two quarterback hits.

A lot goes into deciding who does and doesn’t get cut. Jones could fall victim to decisions about how many outside linebackers the team is willing to hold. Still, he’s made his case on pure merit.
