The Pittsburgh Steelers improved to 3-0 in the preseason as players battling to make the roster made their case to stick around.

It’s a good time to be a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, coming out of Week 3 of the preseason with a perfect record.

It’s an even better time if you’re one of the Steelers who can feel secure about their place on the roster.

More cuts will take place this Tuesday, but these three players shouldn’t need to worry.

The Steelers tight ends had a banner day on Saturday against the Lions. Eric Ebron led the team in receiving yards and rookie Pat Freiermuth caught two touchdown passes.

For Zach Gentry, the production wasn’t at that level, but the participation was. The third-year tight end got snaps in the opening drive with the first team. He played the whole way through as well, taking snaps on the final drive of the game.

He did well as a blocker and seems to have established himself as a viable third option in the rotation behind Ebron and Freiermuth.

There are no guarantees, but after his outing in the third preseason game, it would be shocking to see Gentry on the roster chopping block.
