College Football Picks Week 2: No. 15-11

15 Texas (-7.0) vs. Arkansas – Over 56.5

It would be so, so Texas for them to make a statement against a ranked Louisiana team and then go on the road to Arkansas and lose. Unfortunately for Hogs fans, I don’t think the Razorbacks are good enough to stop Bijan Robinson and the Longhorns offense. Arkansas may put up some points to help the over but Texas should win this pretty easily.

Stanford vs. 14 USC (-17.0) – Under 53.5

Betting on USC is not for the faint of heart. This team is liable to put up a stinker at any moment, though they did pretty much take care of business without breaking much of a sweat in Week 1 against San Jose State. Still, the Trojans have superior talent to the Cardinal in this matchup and, especially defensively, should dominate on Saturday.

13 Florida (-28.5) vs. South Florida – Under 58.5

Emory Jones didn’t inspire a ton of confidence in his debut, at least as a passer, as Florida’s starting quarterback. The defense, however, looked like it was full of elite athletes that will be playing on Sundays. Against a team like South Florida, I’m willing to bet on the defense to be suffocating enough for the Gators to cover.

12 Oregon (+14.5) vs. 3 Ohio State – Over 63.5

This line is just too high. Understanding that C.J. Stroud and Ohio State found a groove late against Minnesota, the Buckeyes won by 14 points against a Golden Gophers team that doesn’t have near the talent on either side of the ball that Oregon does. Yes, we’re going to see a lot of points, but I’m expecting a tightly contested shootout more than a Ohio State blowout win over a top-15 team.

Ball State (+22.0) vs. 11 Penn State – Under 58.0

In a neutral situation, I’m taking Penn State -22.0 every day of the week. But this isn’t a normal situation — it’s a trap game. The Nittany Lions are coming off a big game against Wisconsin and have a date with Auburn next week. Throw in the shaky play of Sean Clifford and an experienced Ball State team and the Cardinals are going to cover as underdogs in this game.
