College Football Picks Week 2: No. 10-6

10 Iowa (+4.5) vs. 9 Iowa State – Under 46.5

Trying not to overreact to last week, Iowa got a bit lucky in terms of getting two defensive touchdowns in their dominant win over Indiana last week. Meanwhile, there’s a chance that Iowa State was playing it safe in a nail-biter against Northern Iowa looking ahead to this game. Still, the Hawkeyes just look to be defensively dominant, which makes them as 4.5-point dogs the right play. Furthermore, the under has hit in 13 of the last 15 meetings for the CyHawk Trophy.

Toledo vs. 8 Notre Dame (-17.0) – Under 55.5

We saw more in one game at Notre Dame from Jack Coan than we did during his entire time at Wisconsin. However, the Fighting Irish remain a run-first team in an ideal world and Toledo doesn’t have the bodies up front to contend with them the way Florida State did. I expect a bounce-back performance for Notre Dame in which they wholly own the Rockets for four quarters.

Murray State vs. 7 Cincinnati – Game not on board

While there were an inordinate amount of top 10 teams struggling to take care of business in Week 1, Cincinnati was not one of them. The Bearcats looked the part of the best Group of 5 team in college football. That’s not going to change against an opponent like Murray State, which is why there’s no line for this game.

South Carolina State vs. 6 Clemson – Game not on board

Poor South Carolina State. After getting completely stifled by Georgia, Clemson is going to come out and just be relentless in this game to build confidence for D.J. Uiagalelei and the offense. On top of that, the Tigers defense was almost equally as dominant against the Bulldogs, so that doesn’t bode well for their opponents.
