Braves: Jorge Soler proved Brian Snitker right from the first pitch
By Ethan Lee
Braves manager Brian Snitker made the right move by choosing to give Jorge Soler a chance to leadoff in Game 1 of the World Series.
The Atlanta Braves made a brilliant move by putting Jorge Soler at the top of the lineup in the first game of the World Series against the Houston Astros. While there was some discussion about manager Brian Snitker giving Soler the leadoff spot over Eddie Rosario, that decision paid off handsomely for the Braves.
That’s because Soler was able to get a hold of a pitch from Astros starting pitcher Framber Valdez and take it deep to give Atlanta an early 1-0 lead over Houston.
That solo shot home run was impressive and started to set the tone for the game.

There’s really no better way for a team to get the World Series started than to take a pitch deep off of the first swing in Game 1. Soler did just that and it set the pace for the Braves to go on and get to Valdez another time, scoring another run later in the top of the first inning.
For Atlanta to be able to get an advantage over the Astros, it’s important that they go out and make a statement on the road in game one. While that definitely rings true considering how Atlanta is a bit of an underdog and is shorthanded, it’s especially true when you consider that the Astros have the home-field advantage for the World Series.
