Packers rumors: Trade for Derek Carr?

Carr was open this offseason about trying to recruit Davante Adams to play with him in Las Vegas. Perhaps Carr’s dream could become a reality, but just the other way around.

“I said I’m gonna full-court press the guy when he’s a free agent. There’s no doubt. I’ll buy him a car. Whatever I gotta do. He’d fit in so well with our guys,” Carr said at the time.

Carr has never really been appreciated in Vegas, and with Jon Gruden departing, his future is even more murky now. Vegas could go in another direction at quarterback, as Carr is viewed by folks in the building as good but not great.

The Raiders still have Marcus Mariota, though he’s often injured. If Vegas were to trade Carr, they’d have a good backup plan. This means the Raiders could get something of value for Carr, allowing general manager Mike Mayock (or whoever is the head of that front office at the time) to surround Mariota or their own quarterback of the future with a reliable offensive structure.

Carr has never felt wanted in Sin City. With the Packers, he’d be their QB of choice to replace an all-time great.
