Former GM of the Phillies has questionable opinion of Antonio Brown

Former Philadelphia Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. shared his thoughts about NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown.

Antonio Brown has dominated the professional sports news cycle this week in regards to what happened in Week 17 of the NFL season. In the middle of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ game against the New York Jets, Brown took off his equipment and walked to the locker room shirtless.  Many in the sports world shared their thoughts after watching the Brown situation unfold on television that quickly spread like wildfire on social media feeds.

What caused the situation between Brown to escalate was a disagreement with the coaching staff. Head coach Bruce Arians asked Brown to enter the game twice, which the wide receiver declined. From there, Brown took off his helmet and jersey, while throwing his gloves and shirt into the stands of MetLife Stadium.

After Tampa Bay’s 28-24 victory, Arians announced during his press conference that Brown was “no longer a Buc.” Even with Arians’ proclamation, the Buccaneers have yet to officially release him from his contract.

There were reports from those close to Brown that he was playing with a hurt ankle which caused him to miss practice last week. Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reported that friends of the wide receiver urged him to see a top doctor outside of the Buccaneers organization. After undergoing an MRI, it was confirmed that Brown was dealing with “serious pain.”

This season, Brown recorded 45 receptions for 545 yards and four touchdowns.
