Derek Carr leaving the Raiders would be odd, but it could happen this offseason

If the Eagles want to upgrade at quarterback without dipping their toes into the hot legal mess that is the Deshaun Watson situation, why not give Mike Mayock a call about Derek Carr’s availability on the Las Vegas Raiders? Carr may only play for the Raiders in his career, but he is way too talented of a quarterback to have his prime wasted by the Silver and Black’s dysfunction.

Should the Raiders retain interim head coach Rich Bisaccia, the guy Carr wants to lead the team full-time, then the Eagles are not going to be able to orchestrate a trade with Las Vegas for its quarterback. But if owner Mark Davis has other things in mind, Carr might become available. He will be on the final year of his contract, and Hurts could be the Raiders’ potential Week 1 starter.

Of course, the Eagles will need to send at least two of their three first-round picks the Raiders’ way. They may want to kick the tires on Hurts instead of reaching on a player in what looks to be a weak quarterback draft class. In the meantime, they could use all the draft capital they can get to offset losing former first-rounders like Henry Ruggs III and Damon Arnette. They must replenish.

If Carr goes to the Eagles, Philadelphia will have arguably the best quarterback in the NFC East.
