The big day has almost arrived, as we’re inching closer and closer to the Feb. 2 start date for the 2022 Winter Olympics. Men and women from 90 different countries are headed to Beijing to try and capture the ultimate glory: a Gold Medal.

With that said, what do the Gold Medals look like? Heading into the start of things, fans were actually given a sneak peak at what exactly everyone will be competing for.

Winter Olympics fans are surely going to like the design of the Gold Medals

According to the official Olympics website, the medals are named ‘Tong Xin’ which means together as one. For the gold, silver and bronze, there are the traditional five rings, which represent the ‘Olympics spirit to bring people together.’

If an athlete is fortunate enough to take home a Gold Medal, they’ll also have their respective sport engraved on the back of the outermost ring. Leading up to the start of the Winter Olympics, there’s plenty of intrigue for countless events.

While NHL stars won’t be making their way over, several teams will be eyeing the Gold Medal in Ice Hockey. As for superstar USA skier Mikaela Shiffrin, she’s hoping to make history over in Beijing as well. Once Feb. 2 arrives, the hunt for Gold Medals will officially be on. Everyone can’t wait to see how things unfold.
