Top potential March Madness games

8. East Region Round of 32 – No. 1 Baylor vs. No. 8 North Carolina

The Bears may be the top seed in the most danger of getting upset before the Sweet 16 and this Round of 32 matchup against North Carolina would be extremely dangerous. The Tar Heels largely struggled against the best teams in the country this season, explaining why they landed an 8-seed on Selection Sunday, but they did make an impressive statement on March 5 by knocking off Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium to ruin Mike Krzyzewski’s final home game.

Hubert Davis’ team is also loaded with talent as big man Armando Bacot and Oklahoma transfer Brady Manek have plenty of experience playing on the big stage. Baylor is looking to defend its national championship but they could end up in a fight for their tournament lives here.

7. East Region Round of 32 – No. 4 UCLA vs. No. 5 Saint Mary’s

The East Region is where the fun could be in the Round of 32 and this contest features in-state rivals that come into the matchup with completely different expectations. UCLA was ranked No. 2 in the preseason polls before some mid-season struggles dropped them down to this line, but the nucleus of last year’s Final Four squad is still intact and poised to make another deep run.

Saint Mary’s is a tricky matchup for the Bruins since they are one of the most elite defensive teams in the country and can muck up the game for a UCLA team that likes to score points in bunches. Head coach Randy Bennett has gotten a ton out of his team and the Gaels would love nothing more than to knock out the Bruins on their way to the Sweet 16.
