2. Drew Waters will not be on the Braves roster after the trade deadline

If the Atlanta Braves want to make a splash at the trade deadline, it may cost them one of their highly-touted prospects. Drew Waters, who’s ranked as the second-best prospect in the Braves farm system according to MLB Pipeline, could be on the move at the deadline.

We already saw the Braves make a similar move this past offseason when Atlanta’s front office included former top outfield prospect Christian Pache in a deal that landed them first baseman Matt Olson. Could Atlanta part with another of their outfield prospects?

It’s certainly possible when you look at how Atlanta’s outfield is constructed. Ronald Acuña Jr. is a bonafide star. The Braves also inked Eddie Rosario to a two-year contract. Michael Harris II is raking in his rookie season with the club, and Marcell Ozuna is also capable of playing the outfield.

Waters has the look of a fourth outfielder, though the 23-year-old does have some pop in his bat. A switch-hitting outfielder with power and speed might become a commodity for a rebuilding ball club at the trade deadline, so it’s not out of the question to assume that Drew Waters could be traded.
