1. Texas A&M Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies were supposed to be the biggest threats to Alabama Crimson Tide in the SEC West. Yeah, that narrative is in the proverbial garbage five weeks into the season.

Texas A&M was among one of the first top-ranked teams to suffer an upset loss. The Appalachian State Mountaineers got revenge for that Midnight Yell schtick, defeating the Aggies 17-14. Yet, Texas A&M did rebound from that loss, picking up wins against Miami and Arkansas.

But in Week 5, Texas A&M once again ended up on the losing end. Despite being the 17th-ranked team in the nation, the Aggies lost 42-24 to the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

Texas A&M found themselves in a 21-3 hole early on, and it did not get any better. Perhaps the biggest gut punch to them was when the Aggies were seemingly close to getting back in the game after the Bulldogs missed a 39-yard field goal, getting the ball back while trailing 35-17. But two plays later, Texas A&M quarterback Haynes King threw an interception to Emmanuel Forbes, who returned it for a touchdown to extend Mississippi State’s lead to 42-17 with under four minutes remaining.

The Aggies have been one of the more disappointing teams in college football. With this latest loss, Texas A&M have probably found themselves outside of the Top 25 rankings entering Week 6.
