3. Top Fantasy Football Pickups For Week 6 – Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith

One of the most bizarre storylines in the early portion of the 2022 NFL season is that Geno Smith has been a better quarterback than Russell Wilson. While Denver handed Wilson a big contract and has watched its offense devolve into one of the league’s most inefficient while Smith has the Seahawks humming.

Smith continued humming in Week 5, throwing touchdowns to Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf in a tough road matchup against the New Orleans Saints in the Superdome. Although Smith didn’t produce nearly as much firepower as his Week 4 explosion in Detroit, the fact that he has kept both Seattle receivers fantasy relevant hasn’t gotten nearly enough national attention.

Numbers are numbers, which is what we are chasing in fantasy football, so what Smith is doing for Seattle should have led to pickups en masse. We mentioned Smith as a top pickup candidate last week and his rostered percentage did jump from 12 percent to 34 percent as most of the fantasy football community is clearly in wait-and-see mode.

Waiting too long can cause you to miss the boat on Smith, who should be fired up next week as a preferred streamer in a potential shootout with the Arizona Cardinals. Teams struggling to find consistent quarterback play could do far worse than Smith, who should be on the QB1 radar after his excellent start to the season.
