Tennessee Volunteers quarterback Erik Ainge admitted he was wrong about the energy in Sanford Stadium after Georgia’s huge win in Week 10.

The Tennessee Volunteers looked to not only maintain their undefeated season, but their No. 1 ranking given to them by the College Football Playoff selection committee. All they had to do was enter Sanford Stadium and defeat the defending national champion Georgia Bulldogs.

Ahead of the big game, former Vols quarterback Erik Ainge took to Twitter to say that “playing between the hedges is overrated.” Not only that, but calling it “not that loud and not that intimidating,” all the while praising Tennessee’s Neyland Stadium. Plus, Ainge said that he would issue an apology tweet to Georgia if they beat Tennessee and if Sanford was loud.

Well on Saturday, Sanford Stadium was very loud with Bulldogs fans making noise in the rain. Georgia picked up the 27-13 win over Tennessee to keep their undefeated season alive and will likely gain the No. 1 spot in next week’s rankings.

After the game, Ainge did issue an apology, as he took to Twitter to say he was wrong and that the “stadium was lit.”

There is no denying that Georgia fans brought the energy on Saturday. Even head coach Kirby Smart credited them for the role they played in the victory.

Georgia managed to do something that many teams could not against Tennessee — stop their offense. Tennessee only put up six points on two field goals for the majority of the game. Their lone touchdown took place with a little over 55 minutes into the game on a five-yard run by Jaylen Wright.

Georgia, meanwhile, built up a 24-6 lead entering halftime behind three total touchdowns by quarterback Stetson Bennett (two pass, one rush). Bennett finished the game completing 17-of-25 pass attempts for 257 yards.

With Tennessee suffering their lone loss of the season, they now have to find a way to try and sneak into the Playoff.
