2022 NFL power rankings, Week 12: Eagles rally, Jets stunned
The Broncos hosted the rival Raiders looking to snap a five-game losing streak in the series. Russell Wilson threw for 247 yards. But the team’s only TD came via Latavius Murray in the first quarter.
Denver’s defense gave up 407 total yards and had no answers for Raiders’ wideout Davante Adams. For the eighth time in 10 games, the Broncos were limited to no more than 16 points. And for the third time this year, Nathaniel Hackett’s club lost in overtime.
The Steelers were looking to make it two straight wins for the first time all season. And they came up with one of their better efforts this season against rival Bengals, who they had knocked off in overtime at Cincinnati in Week 1.
Pittsburgh actually owned a 20-17 lead at halftime before things came apart after intermission. But Mike Tomlin’s defense wound up allowing 408 total yards by the game’s end and also surrendered 20 second-half points.
As expected, the Browns hit the road this week to clash with the Bills. But the game would be held at Ford Field in Detroit due to weather issues in Buffalo. Cleveland got off to a good start and owned a 10-3 lead early in the second quarter.
But the Bills would score the next 25 points and take control of the game. Jacoby Brissett threw for 324 yards and three touchdowns but did lose a fumble. The Browns were held to just 80 yards on the ground.
The struggling Raiders had defeated the Broncos five consecutive times entering Sunday’s clash in the Mile High City. But Denver owned a 10-0 second-quarter lead.
Both teams played turnover-free football but eventually quarterback Derek Carr and wide receiver Davante Adams proved to be the difference. The former threw for 307 yards and two scores – both to Adams and the latter a 35-yard TD strike 1:36 in overtime to complete the sweep.
