Aaron Rodgers rumors: Dream trade No. 3 to help the Packers – Seattle Seahawks

It’s weird that the 2022 season has thrown the Seattle Seahawks’ future more into question than trading Russell Wilson in the offseason prior did. Many believe that trade would result in a disastrous output in the Pacific Northwest this year but, instead, Geno Smith has emerged legitimately as one of the best quarterbacks in the league right now. Meanwhile, we know how poorly Wilson has performed in Denver.

Having said that, it’s a major question what the Seahawks do moving forward. Smith is a free agent after this season and in line for a big deal with some team, Seattle or otherwise. But what if the Seahawks used their ample draft capital from the Wilson trade to capitalize on a good season and trade for Rodgers while still using valuable picks to improve the rest of the roster?

In this trade, the Seahawks would be trading their own picks projected to be in the middle or late parts of the first-round while retaining the Broncos picks traded to them for Wilson to pick in the Top 5 this year and wherever in next year’s draft.

That would afford Seattle the opportunity to not worry about reaching for a quarterback this offseason because they’ll have Rodgers for a couple of seasons while also working to fill out the rest of the roster to get over the hump they’re currently struggling to with Smith at the helm (though that’s not the quarterback’s fault).
