Ranking the Jets’ Zach Wilson replacement options

No. 7 – Sign Daniel Jones

Daniel Jones will be a free agent after the season and it sounds like the Giants aren’t sold on bringing him back. That alone is reason to pump the brakes on picking up Jones but the Jets could do worse than a reasonably-productive NFL starter like Jones.

No. 6 – Sign Taylor Heinicke

The Commanders would be wise to re-sign Taylor Heinicke unless they believe they can pull off a major trade for a QB or sign one of the higher-ranked options on this list. If they don’t, the Jets should jump at the chance to sign him themselves if they can’t land one of the higher-ranked options on this list.

Heinicke isn’t going to light the world on fire, but he’d be miles better than what Jets fans have had to endure from their quarterbacks in 2022.

No. 5 – Sign Jimmy Garoppolo

Jimmy G should be at the top of the Jets’ realistic free agency wish list. Garoppolo is 40-17 as a starter in his career. He can get the job done. Critically, he doesn’t lose football games the way Zach Wilson has in 2022.

No. 4 – Sign Tom Brady

If Tom Brady wanted to come to New York, the Jets could give him that chance. The chances of that actually happening feel exceedingly low, however. If they could pull it off, the Jets would have a whole new outlook.
