Predicting the best free agent the Dallas Cowboys will sign: Dalton Schultz, TE

Forget the flashy, splashy moves the Dallas Cowboys are known to be in the mix for each year. That’s not happening in 2023. The Cowboys gave tight end Dalton Schultz the franchise tag before this season, and before the 2023 campaign, they’ll lock him up for the foreseeable future. This is a highly-important player to their offense.

Beginning his career as an afterthought and likely the backup to Blake Jarwin, Schultz broke out after Jarwin suffered an injury a couple of years ago and never gave up the job. He’s become one of the most sure-handed tight ends in the league and a key security blanket for quarterback Dak Prescott.

With the tight end position being so difficult to navigate, and breakouts happening very rarely at the position, Dallas cannot afford to let Schultz go. They are going to have to pay up, but Prescott will be glad they did.

Over his last three seasons, Schultz has combined for a grand total of exactly 2,000 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. He did miss some time this past season but is fully healthy at this point.
