Oregon can win the Pac-12 if Bo Nix lives up to his Heisman Trophy potential

After being a good, but not great quarterback in the SEC at Auburn, Bo Nix seems to have really found himself playing for Dan Lanning at Oregon. Though he went Bo-for-4 against perpetual nemesis Georgia, the Ducks do not face the Dawgs during the regular season. Regardless, Nix showed at times he could play at a Heisman level. Oregon is a major contender to win the Pac-12.

Of course, Nix will be without his offensive coordinator of note, as Kenny Dillingham took over at his alma mater Arizona State. Lanning is an elite recruiter, but he is at his core a defensive-minded head coach. The good news is it just kind of works for Nix in Eugene. He does not have to play under the same bright lights his father Patrick did at Jordan-Hare for Terry Bowden in the 1990s.

Overall, Oregon has a chance to win any game it plays because its starting quarterback can extend plays with his arm and legs. While it remains to be seen if the Ducks have enough flight in them to make the College Football Playoff, Nix has banked so many starts over the last four years that he will have seen everything he will be going up against. He better make this count because, this is it.

Oregon has a strong history of great quarterback play, but Nix will have his turn to make a legacy.
