3 Texas football recruits who can help Arch Manning bring the Longhorns back
Johntay Cook II is going to catch a lot of balls from Arch Manning
Every quarterback needs his go-to target and that appears to be what 5-star Johntay Cook II could be for Arch Manning. As they both arrive in the Texas football program together, they could and should create an exceptionally formidable duo that will rack up yards, touchdowns and wins together in the passing game.
Another in-state product, the No. 29 overall recruit from the 2023 class needs to put some more muscle on his 6-foot, 175-pound frame but the tools that are already in the chest should have Manning and Longhorns fans salivating.
Not only has Cook proven that he can play inside or outside when lining up but he has a knack for making highlight-reel catches with strong hands. Perhaps more importantly, he’s also quite fast and even more quick, allowing him to rack up yards after the catch with the ability to either run past defenders or make guys miss in space. That makes him an even more versatile weapon to deploy in a variety of ways with Manning throwing him the ball.
Cook isn’t alone as an incoming wide receiver recruit as he’s joined by 4-stars Ryan Niblett and DeAndre Moore Jr., among others. Cook, however, has the most upside. And if we’re looking for a star pairing with Arch Manning for the future of Texas football, the DeSoto native looks the most likely candidate.
