Week 5 in college football is a loaded slate, and there are some AP Top 25 teams that are looking to pull off an upset to improve their chances of making the College Football Playoff this season.

Every week here at BetSided, our editors are crunching the numbers to find the best upsets on the slate to help you cash in on some favorable odds.

Last week, our crew was able to go 3-2 on straight up upsets, as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (Iain MacMillan and Donnavan Smoot were on this pick) and Notre Dame Fighting Irish came through for our wins.

Our own Peter Dewey, who took Notre Dame, has been pretty good on picking upset winners so far this season...

If you want even more upsets, the FanSided College Football team of insiders put together some of their favorites.

So who are we taking this week? Here are this week’s best upset picks in college football with all odds via WynnBET Sportsbook:

College Football Upset Pick: Houston (+165) Upsets Tulsa

Tulsa has played two home games this season heading into Friday’s matchup and it has failed to cover the spread in either game, losing to UC Davis in one of those matchups. The Golden Hurricane’s 1-3 record may look deceiving since they faced Ohio State and Oklahoma State, but I love the Cougars in this spot.

Houston currently has the third-best passing defense (116.0 yards per game) in the country. Part of that is due to an easier schedule, but it has gone 3-0 in those games with its lone loss to Texas Tech in Week 1.

Quarterback Clayton Tune has thrown just one interception for the Cougars since Week 1 (he threw four against Texas Tech), and I think Tulsa may not have as easy of a time moving the ball in this one. Tulsa is averaging 302.0 yards per game through the air and 187.8 yards per game on the ground, but Houston’s defense may be the best unit in this matchup.

I don’t believe in a Tulsa team that lost to UC Davis at home and couldn’t cover the spread against Arkansas State, so give me the Cougars to pick up the upset. -- Peter Dewey

College Football Upset Pick: Tennessee (+130) Upsets Missouri

After getting destroyed by Florida, Tennessee gets a reward by playing Missouri this week. The Volunteers are +130 at WynnBET and I’m taking them this week to upset Missouri. Missouri is giving up an average of 33.3 points per game. Outside of last week, Tennessee has scored at least 38 points in each of its games. The Volunteers are explosive and the Tigers are going to have problems stopping them this week.

Missouri is 2-2 on the season, but 0-4 against the spread this year. The Tigers aren’t a trustworthy team and despite being at home, I like Tennessee to get above .500 this weekend. -- Donnavan Smoot

College Football Upset Pick: Temple (+320) Upsets Memphis

As they say in the UFC world, styles make fights. As true as that statement is in Mixed Martial Arts, it's equally as true in other sports, especially football.

Well, I think we have a chance at exploiting a good stylistic matchup here. Temple has had a few rough games this season, but there's one thing that it does well and that's stop the pass. Temple ranks third in the entire country in opponent yards per pass attempt, allowing an average of only 4.9.

Heading into this game, the majority of the offensive yards (67.69%) that Memphis gains are through the air. This game seems like a mismatch on paper, but if Temple can slow down the Memphis passing attack, it'll be in a fantastic spot to pull off an improbable upset. -- Iain MacMillan

College Football Upset Pick: Nevada (+195) Upsets Boise State

I'll start with the bad. One of Nevada's best receivers Elijah Cooks will miss the rest of the season with a foot injury, and the team will be down a starting safety, but that's not stopping me.

Boise State had an inflated box score win over Utah State, 27-3 on the road, but the issues are not solved for the Broncos, who allowed more than 300 yards in the first half. If not for mental errors from the Aggies, Boise could've fallen to 1-3 on the season.

Now, the Broncos face Nevada, who is coming off a bye and facing arguably the best quarterback in the country, in a pass-happy offense, in Carson Strong. However, I expect Jay Norvell to deploy running back Toa Taua, who is averaging more than six yards per carry in just 25 handoffs this season, to open up the passing game.

I'll be on this spread, but hoping it touches +7, and I expect Nevada to give Boise a well deserved loss. -- Reed Wallach

College Football Upset Pick: Utah State (+260) Upsets No. 13 BYU

With Maryland potentially a love dog at home against No. 5 Iowa, is the popular Friday night upset special party already a bit too crowded?

Nah. The more the merrier!

Utah State beat themselves up last week with several turnovers, stupid penalties and showing very little discipline whatsoever. I'd be stunned if that kind of repeat performance happens again at home.

I expect the Aggies to start fast at home, especially using their outstanding running game to match up against BYU's weakness. BYU gives up 152.3 rushing yards per game against a top 20 rushing offense averaging 213.5/game that also ranks 11th overall in yards per game. Calvin Tyler should have a field day against BYU's defense, and set the tone early for the Aggies to make a statement after last week's debacle.

Our Reed Wallach here at BetSided previews this game in depth here, and while he likes Utah State to cover, he's focused on the total instead with two high quality offenses squaring off.

I'll finish what he "wanted to start," and pick the Aggies to upset BYU at home, and finally bring the Cougars back down to earth where their initial expectations were at the start of the season. -- Ben Heisler
